Services of Quality, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems Certification
As part of its ship classification surveys, ClassNK has been actively involved in the audits of quality systems of shipyards, manufacturers of machineries, etc. The Society has also had experience of having undertaken quality system audits of the manufacturers of the machineries prior to the shipment of the machineries to the importing countries under the authority of the governments of the importing countries.
Based on its extensive experience cultivated over many years, ClassNK has enjoyed the certification activities of quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems in accordance with the requirements of the respective standards (i.e. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and/or OHSAS 18001). Organizations who have successfully passed the audits are registered in the Society as having management systems conforming to the requirements of the respective standards. The organizations are issued with the certificates, and are then published in the Register Book of the Society of the respective management systems.
Accreditation by JAB and RvA
ClassNK is accredited by the Japan Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment (JAB) and by the Raad voor Accreditatie (RvA) of the Netherlands. Organizations that have been registered by the Society can be registered with the respective accrediting body at the organization’s request. Thus, any certificates issued will bear the mark of the respective accrediting authority.
It is however reminded that there is no internationally recognized accreditation system for occupational health and safety management systems. Therefore, the services for certification of occupational health and safety management systems are offered under the internal quality control scheme equivalent to the one applied to the certification of quality and environmental management systems.
The Society’s certification services are available not only in Japan, but also in other countries than Japan. A well advanced approach to the following contact point is however recommended to be made if you have a plan to have the management systems to be certified by ClassNK in particular in other countries than Japan, as there may be a case not allowing ClassNK to accept the applications for certifications in these countries legally and otherwise.
