PrimeShip-HULL for Container Carriers


“PrimeShip-HULL for Container Carriers” is advanced calculation software developed and released by the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) to correspond with amendments made to Part C of the Rules for the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships officially issued on 25th December 2015. This page includes a summary of the software, it’s hardware requirements, and information on how to obtain a copy of it for use. A special support site has been created for the software where users can receive the latest information relevant to the software. Please use the user ID and password assigned to your software to login into the site.

Rule Calculation

The rule calculation system uses arrangement and cross sectional gross scantling data, etc. (as shown on the right) inputted by users to perform the hull girder strength assessments, buckling strength assessments and ultimate strength assessments, etc. required by Chapter 32 of Part C of the Rules (in accordance with IACS UR S11A). In addition, calculation result reports can be outputted as Microsoft Word files.

Direct Strength Analysis

The direct strength calculation tool is capable of conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and providing strength assessments as shown on the right. The system is based upon Altair Engineering, Inc.’s HyperWorks and it strongly supports structural assessment work by providing design loads, boundary conditions, etc. in accordance with the requirements of the Chapter 32 of Part C of the Rules, thus allowing a series of direct strength analyses to be performed. And the system can propose appropriate reinforcement plan with the sensitivity analysis and the data linkage function with NAPA Steel which is 3D CAD software produced by NAPA Ltd. is also available. In addition, ultimate strength assessment in consideration of the effects of whipping, and the effects of sea water pressure and container loads can be performed.
