On 24 April 2024, IHI Power Systems Co., Ltd. announced that it had discovered misconduct regarding shop trials conducted for its four-stroke diesel engines.
ClassNK investigates into the impact of this misconduct on the NOx emission limits required by MARPOL Annex VI for engines installed on NK-classed vessels, and no engines have been found to exceed the NOx emission limits at this moment.

Although ClassNK confirmed NOx regulation is being complied, it has been found that some issued EIAPP certificates need to be revised, and ClassNK will reissue these certificates.
