ClassNK issued Technical Information TEC-0988 regarding the requirement on carriage of nautical publications for emergency use from the Government of Marshall Islands Marine Notice No.1-000-3 Rev.5/14 with below summary.

- Even if electronic nautical publications are installed onboard, the publications for emergency use, such as the International Code of Signals and the IAMSAR Manual should always be available in the form of hard copies.
- When electronic nautical publications with electronic back up are carried, portions of the publications needed for navigation while the vessel is en route between ports should be printed and included with the voyage plan.

Marine Notice 1-000-3 Rev.5/14 has been revised as Rev.03/16. The main point of the revision is the update of List of Approved Electronic Programs.
