This is to advise you that according to instructions received from the Liberian government, Liberian flag ships keels of which are laid after 31 December 1998 are required to comply with the following requirements for the subject arrangements.

(1) Where the deck area is greater than 4m2:
Either one of the following fixed fire extinguishing systems is to be provided.
(a) CO2 system, designed for 40% of the gross volume of the space
(b) Dry powder system, designed for at least 0.5kg/m3
(c) Water spraying system, designed for 5 liter/m2/min.

(2) Where the deck area is 4m2 or less:
At least one 6.8kg CO2 or one 4.5kg dry powder portable fire extinguisher is to be located outside the entrance to the space.
