The Bahraini Government has notified the Society of his requirements for radio personnel on board GMDSS ships, which are reproduced below for information/action:

Required Radio Personnel on Board Bahraini Flag GMDSS Ships

As from 1st February 1999, Bahraini Flag GMDSS Ships should carry radio personnel as follows. However this requirements will come into force after a grace period extending up to 31st December 1999.

Ships of 300GT and over, trading internationally
- Two watchkeeping deck officers holding GOCs and certificates complying with 1995 STCW Convention.

Ships of 300GT to 500GT, trading within The Gulf Area and Gulf of Oman
- One watchkeeping deck officer holding a GOC and a certificate complying with 1995 STCW Convention.
