Regulation V/12(p) of the 1988 Amendments ot 1974 SOLAS Convention specifies the requirements for installation of a radio direction finder and for exemption from its installation on certain conditions.

The following Governments have notified the Society of the conditions for exemption, and procedures for exemption and for issue of an exemption certificate for ships registered in their States, which are re-produced as per attached. For ships flying the Japanese flag, further information should be sought to Material and Equipment Department. NK Technical Information No.216 dated 30 June 1997 is replaced by this issue.
