Books and Documents Required on Board the Greek Ships Sailing within the Limits of Sea Area A1
The Government of Hellenic Republic has notified its clarification about books and documents required on board the GMDSS ships and specified in its Ministerial Decision No.1218.38/1/198 (B704) for Greek GMDSS ships sailing within GMDSS sea area A1 in its circular No.4341.

The following clarification should apply for books and documents to be placed on board the Greek ships sailing within GMDSS sea area A1:
1. The operator's certificates may be General Operator's Certificate (GOC), Restricted Operator's Certificate (ROC), Long Range Operator's Certificate (LRC) or Short Range Operator's Certificate (SRC).
2. Radio Log Book is of specified in case 4 Article 11 of the Ministerial Decision.
3. International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Directory and the Ship's Stations Directory are not required for ships navigating within the limits of sea area A1.
4. In case of the ships of domestic voyages, the tables providing telecommunications data of coastal stations within the ship navigating sea area may be substituted by the Annex 1 to 4 of this circular.
5. Manual for Use by the Maritime Mobile and Maritime Mobile-Satellite Services is not required for ships navigating within the limit of sea area A1.
6. Leaflets and books necessary for the settlement of accounts of telecommunications fees should be provided by the company responsible for
7. IMO Circular "GMDSS operating guidance for masters of ships in distress situations" may be substituted by Annex 5 of this circular.
And for Greek ships engaged in voyages within GMDSS sea area A1 of domestic and to neighboring countries and utilizing the VHF/DSC network of Greek radio stations, the books and documents required should be as follows:
1. The radio station license
2. The radio log book
3. The valid Cargo Ship Safety Radio Certificate, the Passenger Ship Safety Certificate or the Domestic Service Ship Safety Certificate
4. The radio operator certificate
5. Documents necessary for the settlement of accounts
6. Annexes 1 to 6 of Circular No.4341
7. A copy of Ministerial Decision No.1218.38/1/98 (B704)
