Please note that we have been advised by the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines with regard to phasing out of Haron fire extinguisher as follows.

1. Existing portable Halon fire-extinguishers are to be replaced by CO2 or other suitable Fire-extinguishers by 1 January 2002.
2. Existing fixed Halon system is to be phased out by 1 January 2002, or earlier if a major
refit is undertaken and a fixed fire-extinguishing system complying with MSC/Circ.668
"alternative arrangements for Halon fire-extinguishing systems in machinery spaces and pump-
rooms" is to be fitted.
3. Halons will not be accepted as fire-extinguishing media on board any ship applying for
registration under the St. Vincent flag even if it is before 1 January 2002.
