Please be kindly informed that we have been noticed by the Malta Government with regard to thickness measurement of bottles / cylinders of fixed halogenated hydrocarbons fire-extinguishing systems on board Malta flag ships given below.

During the periodical Surveys of Safety Equipment, a Surveyor will confirm if the bottles / cylinders on board the vessels are measured thickness subject to the followings and then please take necessary actions in this matter.

Thickness Measurement of Bottles / Cylinders of Fixed Halogenated Hydrocarbons Fire-extinguishing Systems

-1. At least 50 % of the bottles / cylinders are to be measured thickness every 10 years.
-2. Notwithstanding the above, a Surveyor may request an additional thickness measurement depending on the visual external inspections. Even during Class Surveys, the measurement may be requested at the discretion of the Surveyor.
