Periodic servicing of launching appliances regarding Cyprus flagged vessels
The Cyprus Government has notified the Society of instructions in relation to periodical servicing of launching appliances and on-load release gear.
According to the instructions, the dynamic test prescribed in Reg. 20.11.1.3 of Chapter III of 1996 Amendments to 1974 SOLAS is not applicable to the winch brakes of launching appliances of ships constructed before 1st July 1986 which do not comply with the requirements of Reg. 48 of Chapter III of 1983 Amendments to 1974 SOLAS.
