The Greek Government has notified us of the regulations on survey of cargo handling appliances having been revised, and having been put into effect on 25 December 2001.

Major revised points are as follows:
1. The form of the former certificate "Certificate of Fitness of Cargo Gear" had been abolished, and the form of "Cargo Gear Book2 (Greek type) was introduced instead.
Cargo ships with due date of annual or renewal survey after 25 December 2001 are to be supplied with the "Cargo Gear Book" when they take the periodical surveys after that date.
The new form should be prepared by the Owner (The form of the "Cargo Gear Book" is available at Greek Marine Pension Foundation). If you submit the form to our surveyor when the ship has the survey, our survey office will do the renewal.
2. The regulations relating to elevators for crew are newly provided.
The regulations for elevators are applied to cargo ships launched on/after 25 December 2001. As regards cargo ships that had been launched and navigating prior to that date, the requirements only relating to periodical survey of the regulation are applied.
On completion of the survey by our surveyor, the result will be recorded in the above "Cargo Gear Book".
