Attached hereto is the revised guidance for certification on fitness of ships for the carriage of solid cargoes in bulk in accordance with the provisions for the Code Practice for Solid Bulk Cargoes (BC Code) which developed by ClassNK.

This ClassNK Technical Information supersedes the previous ClassNK Technical Information No. TEC-0351 dated 1 February 2000.

The following items are mainly amended.

1. The guidance for renewal and rewrite of certificate (no alternation on cargo list) is newly incorporated.
2. The guidance of MSC/Circ.671(equivalent protection and exemptions for fire-extinguishing system) is fully incorporated.
3. The requirements for carriage of "coal" are amended.
4. The requirements for carriage of "Brown coal (lignite) briquettes" are added.
5. The requirement for fixed fire extinguishing system for carriage of "Sulphur" is deleted.
6. The editorial errata are corrected.
