In relation to ballast water management plans, we would advise you that according to the Brazilian requirements, documentation related to the Ballast Water Management Plan of Brazilian and foreign flagged vessels will have to be approved by a classification society recognized by DPC.
Further to the above information, in January we received the attached letter from DPC which stated that DPC would allow non class approved Ballast Water Management plans on board only until 30 June 2006.

Please note that MID can offer an approval service for ClassNK’s vessel if the contents of the plan comply with IMO resolution A868(20).

If the owner needs class approval for the ballast water management plan, please send the necessary number of copies of the plan including one copy for ClassNK.
