Revisions of guidance for IMSBC Code fitness certificate
This is to notify that the guidance for IMSBC Code fitness certificate was revised due to amendments of IMSBC Code. This Technical Information supersedes ClassNK Technical Information No. TEC-0772 issued on 21 May 2009.
Please note that in this information, "IMSBC Code (2009 Edition)" means present International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code and "IMSBC Code (2012 Edition)" means revised International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes Code.
The revisions are summarized as follows.
1. Amendments of IMSBC Code
The revised IMSBC Code (IMSBC Code (2012 Edition)) was adopted by IMO Maritime Safety Committee 89th session (MSC89) and it includes amendments for individual schedules of each cargo.
IMSBC Code (2012 Edition) is going to enter into force on 1 January 2013 and is mandatory for all ships that load solid bulk cargoes.
2. Guidance for IMSBC Code fitness certificate
Please refer to the attachment, "Guidance for IMSBC Code fitness certificate".
3. Cargoes for which construction and equipment requirements are amended
Please note that there are additional requirements for construction and equipment for some cargoes in IMSBC Code (2012 Edition). Please refer to "Table G1, Cargoes for which construction/equipment requirements are newly added" for the cargoes for which the requirements are added in this amendments.
