Unified Interpretations on the technical provisions for permanent means of access for inspections required by SOLAS II-1/3-6 were approved as MSC.1/Circ.1464 (the amendments to MSC.1/Circ.1176 and MSC.1/Circ.1197) at the 92nd session of the IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC92) held from 12 to 21 June 2013.

The amendments are based on UI SC191 (Rev.4), however, it was agreed not to include the interpretations that openings for passage may be reduced (Technical Provisions para. 3.10 and 3.11) in the amended circular.

Based on this result of MSC92, IACS adopted UI SC191 (Rev.5) in line with the concerned IMO Circulars. Please take note that this revised UI is to be applied to ships contracted for construction on or after 24 June 2013.
