With regard to information given in ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-0798 dated 7 January 2010, a calculation program to evaluate steel coil loading methods, which are not summarized in the onboard Loading Manual, is available from ClassNK's website. Up to now, this calculation program could evaluate steel coil loading methods for the vessels to which Common Structural Rules (hereinafter referred to as the "CSR") is NOT applied. This time the program has been improved to evaluate steel coil loading methods for the vessels to which CSR is applied. 1. ClassNK partly amended Part CSR-T of the Rules and published Rule No. 14 (for Japanese-flagged ships) and Rule No.19 (for non Japanese-flagged ships) on 15 April 2009 based on IACS CSR for Double Hull Oil Tankers, July 2008 "Rule Change Notice No. 1" (hereinafter referred to as RCN1 of IACS Tanker CSR) adopted by IACS in January of 2009. The amendments to Part CSR-T were to be applied to ships contracted for construction on or after 1 July 2009. 2. This is information on the IACS early implementation of IMO "Performance Standards for Protective Coatings for ballast tanks and void spaces" (PSPC) for bulk carriers and oil tankers subject to IACS Common Structural Rules (CSRs). 1. 1. The Common Structural Rules (CSR) for Double Hull Oil Tankers and Bulk Carriers, which two project teams (JBP & JTP) in IACS had been developing since the year before last, were adopted by the IACS Council in December 2005. 2. The CSR have been incorporated into the Society's Rule and CSR for Double Hull Oil Tankers and Bulk Carriers were approved at the meeting of the ClassNK Technical Committee on 3 February 2006 (the first meeting of the year). These Rules will be applied to newbuilding ships contracted after 1 April 2006. 3. Rules for the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships Part CSR-B and CSR-T are scheduled to publish ClassNK Internet Homepage (URL: www.classnk.or.jp) about the middle of March in 2006.
