Tec No.: TEC- 1014 (36kb)

Contact:

Issued:20 Nov 2014

With regard to re-issuance of IMSBC Code fitness Certificate to application of IMSBC Code (2014 Edition), please be informed as follows.

The amendment of IMSBC Code is going to enter into force on 1 January 2015 and is mandatory for all ships that load solid bulk cargoes, as informed by ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-0979.
This Technical Information supersedes the previous ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-0936 from 1 January 2015.

For ships carrying cargoes to which requirements on construction and equipment are added, it is necessary to re-write the IMSBC Code fitness certificate (hereinafter referred to as "fitness certificate") at the first periodical survey on or after 1 January 2015.

1. The present fitness certificate required to be re-issued
In case that following cargoes are listed in the cargo list attached to the fitness certificate, it is necessary to re-write the fitness certificate at the first periodical survey on or after 1 January 2015.
Please note that the fitness certificate not listing the following cargoes or the fitness certificate showing "2014 edition" in checklists attached to the fitness certificate is NOT applied.

(1) AMMONIUM NITRATE (IMO class 5.1, UN No.1942)
(2) AMMONIUM NITRATE-BASED FERTILIZER (Type A) (IMO class 5.1, UN No.2067)
(3) AMMONIUM NITRATE-BASED FERTILIZER (Type B) (IMO class 9, UN No.2071)
(4) AMMONIUM NITRATE BASED FERTILIZER (non-hazardous)

2. Additional requirements on construction and equipment
2.1 For the above item (1) cargo, equipment to disconnect heating system to FOT adjacent to the cargo space containing the cargo is required. Disconnection should be spectacle flanges.
2.2 For the above item (2), (3) and (4) cargoes, the adequate means to monitor and control continuously the temperature of boundary between the tank(s) and cargo space loading the cargo so that it does not exceed 50°C are to be provided. In this case, the above equipment to disconnect heating system to FOT (in principle, spectacle flanges) will be alternative one.
