Japanese Government partly revised the regulation for subdivision of ships and some relevant regulations on 30 June 2024.
The revised regulations are applied to "旅客輸送船"等 (cargo ships to transport passenger(s)), which are other than passenger ships and engaged on ship operation business as prescribed in paragraph 2, article 2 of act on maritime transportation of Japanese law (excluding ships engaged on transportations of only objects).
Applicable ships may be required to comply with additional requirements of flooding calculation, installation of the water ingress alarm, life rafts, AIS etc.
ClassNK can not know whether each ship is engaged on ship operation business as prescribed in paragraph 2, article 2 of act on maritime transportation or not.
Therefore, please kindly check whether each ship is "旅客輸送船"等 or not at owners side.
