As we already informed with the NK Technical Information No.273 dated 23 July 1998, the Society issues Statement of Compliance with the provisions of Annex IV to MARPOL 73/78 voluntarily, at your request.

This time, the Administration of Marshall Islands instructed the Society as follows;
A Marshall Islands vessel should be confirmed compliance with Annex IV at the
next regularly scheduled survey. If the vessel is in compliance, the appropriate
certificate should be issued by the Society. If the vessel is not compliance with Annex
IV, this fact is to be described on the Survey Record and recommendation to the
Administration is to be made.

Accordingly, if the appropriate certificates have not yet been issued for ships flagged in
the Marshall Islands in accordance with the Annex IV, you are kindly requested to
apply for surveys to a branch or an office of the Society.
