For safety radio surveys of non-Japanese flag NK ships, the Society has requested that tests and measurements for radio installations are to be carried out by radio inspectors in accordance with the Society's "Rules for Radio Installations".

With amendment of the Rules based on IMO Assembly Resolution A.789(19) and an IACS Unified Requirement, radio inspectors for the surveys carried out on and after 1 April 2000 are to be those belonging to radio firms approved by the Society in accordance with the ''Rules for Approval of Manufacturers and Service Suppliers'' or to radio installation inspection service companies approved by the Society in accordance with the ''Tentative Procedures and Requirements for Approval of Radio Installation Inspection Service Company''.

It is therefore requested that in applying radio surveys from now on you make necessary arrangements for radio inspectors with radio firms or radio installation inspection service companies approved by the Society. For your reference, the list of radio firms and radio installation inspection service companies approved as of April 2000 is attached hereto.

When you apply radio surveys in Singapore, please contact our Singapore office irrespective of the above.
