In accordance with the instructions of the Government of Singapore, the Society requests to carry out hydraulic pressure tests of cylinders of fixed CO2 gas fire-extinguishing systems on board the Singapore flag ships after 20 years from the date of manufacture and thereafter every 5 years, and accepts to reduce the number of the cylinders subjected to the tests at the discretion of an attending Surveyor provided that the condition of those cylinders should be found satisfactory and at least 15 % of the total number of the cylinders should be subjected to the tests.

The Government recently has notified the Society that all the cylinders of fixed CO2 gas fire-extinguishing systems should be subjected to the hydraulic tests after 20 years from the date of manufacture and thereafter every 5 years regardless the external condition of the cylinders.
