Arrangement of liferafts regarding Singapore flagged vessels

The Singapore Government has notified the Society of instructions in relation to arrangement of liferafts required by Regulation 31.3.1 of Chapter III of 1996 Amendments to 1974 SOLAS as follows.:

1. Liferafts of ships constructed before 1 July 1986 shall be stowed in a position providing for easy side-to-side transfer at a single open deck level as a capability of being launched on either side of the ship.

2. If the liferafts are not stowed in a position providing for easy side-to-side transfer at a single open deck level, the total capacity available on each side shall be sufficient to accommodate the total number of persons on board.

For vessels not complyimg (要スペルチェック)with the above requirements, the necessary modification to be carried out as soon as possible, but not later than the first regular survey of safety equipment from April 2002 onward.
