Fire protection for external high pressure fuel delivery lines between high pressure fuel pumps, fuel injectors, and fuel oil piping (Except Japanese flag ships)
As previously advised in ClassNK Technical Information No. TEC-0434, all ships the keels of which were laid or which were at a similar stage of construction before 1 July 1998 of 500 tons gross tonnage and upward and which are engaged in international voyage (except the ships mentioned in regulation 3(a), of SOLAS Chapter I) shall comply, by 1 July 2003, with the requirements of the 74 SOLAS 94 Amendment Chapter II-2 Regulation 15 which entered into force on 1 July 1998. If a Note related to "Fuel Oil Arrangement" remains mentioned in the ship's survey status, please respond to this matter urgently referring to the following:
1. High pressure fuel oil injection piping ( Regulation 15(9), II-2):
(1) All diesel engines on the vessels (including M/E G/E, Engines for emergency generators, emergency fire pumps and thrusters etc., except engines for Life boats) must comply with the related regulation.
(2) In cases where the jacket piping systems for high pressure fuel oil injection pipe and alarm systems are newly installed on board, you are kindly requested to send all relevant drawings to the Machinery Department of ClassNK for approval.
(3) If you need to confirm whether the engines on board the vessels comply with the related regulation, please contact the Machinery Department or the Survey Department of ClassNK after noting the particular of the engines (Type, Engine makers etc.).
(4) After the conversion of the systems, a confirmatory survey by a ClassNK surveyor is required.
2. Suitable means for flange connections and mechanical joints (threaded pipe joints, compression joints, etc.) in fuel oil piping ( Regulation 15(11), II-2):

3 Effective insulation on all surface of machinery installation with temperatures above 220℃(Regulation 15(10), II-2):
