As you know, "Guidance for the Approval and Type Approval of Materials and Equipment for Marine Use" was partly amended on 1 November 2005, by which the approval test is required for the crankcase explosion relief valves and crankcase oil mist detection arrangements of diesel engines installed on ships for which the application for Classification Survey during Construction is submitted to ClassNK on or after 1 January 2006 in accordance with IACS UR M66 and M67.
However, recently at the IACS Council, the effective date has been extended for 1 year. Taking account of the circumstance, ClassNK decided to follow the IACS Council. Accordingly, please be informed that the application above has been revised so that the approval test is required for the crankcase explosion relief valves and the crankcase oil mist detection arrangements of diesel engines installed on ships for which the date of contract for construction is on or after 1 January 2007.

Chapter 10, Part 6 and Chapter 6, Part 7 of the Guidance for the Approval and Type Approval of Materials and Equipment for Marine Use (2005 Amendment No.1)
