Fixed Dry Chemical Powder Fire Extinguishing Systems for New Construction Marshall Islands flagged LNG/LPG Vessels
The Marshall Islands Government has notified ClassNK of special requirements for Fixed Dry Chemical Powder Fire Extinguishing Systems on deck the Marshall Islands flagged vessels as follows.
Fixed Dry Chemical Powder Fire Extinguishing Systems for New Construction LNG/LPG Vessels:
For Fixed dry chemical powder fire extinguishing systems for LNG/LPG vessels, this system should be carried out the following commissioning test prior to delivery.
1. The commissioning test shall demonstrate the proper functioning of hand monitors and hose lines, as well as remote operated monitors, as designed.
2. The system test shall be conducted utilizing dry chemical powder and propellant gas identical to that employed in the system.
3. Dispersion on deck of the dry chemical during the test shall be mitigated through the use of plastic sleeves, or a similar containment method.
4. Upon completion of the test, all lines shall be cleared of residual dry chemical powder utilizing system propellant gas.
5. The system Manufacturer shall be present to ensure proper and safe operation of the system during the test, and to verify re-charging and system readiness after testing.
