As informed previously in ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-0710, International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-Fouling System will enter into force on 17 September 2008.
Also as you may know, EU countries have already requested that the vessels entering EU ports should comply with the Convention from 1 January 2008. (Please refer to ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-0528)

Considering the situation mentioned above, on and after 17 September 2008, not only at EU ports but at the ports which countries have ratified the convention, PSC may target those vessels and inspect whether vessels are complying with the Convention.

Accordingly the Managing Companies whose vessels do not have a Statement of Compliance (SOC) of the Convention are kindly requested to obtain the SOC prior entering into force on 17 September 2008.

Regarding the other matter such as the procedure and the instruction how to change the certificate from SOC to International Convention Certificate will be informed in due course.
