Embarkation arrangement for the remotely located survival craft on Singapore flagged ships
The Singapore Government have notified of embarkation arrangement for the remotely located survival craft for that flagged ships as follows.
The area where the remotely located survival craft, required by regulation 31.1.4 of SOLAS III, are stowed should be provided with embarkation ladder or other means of embarkation enabling descent to the water in a controlled manner as follows in accordance with the interpretation circulated in IMO circular MSC.1/Circ. 1243 dated 29 October 2007.
Following requirements should be applied to all ships regardless of date of construction. And the compliance with this regulation is confirmed at the next annual survey from the date that this Technical Information is issued in respect of the Cargo Ship Safety Equipment Certificate.
1. An embarkation ladder so provided shall comply with Section 6.1.6 of the LSA Code as may be amended from time to time.
2. Jacob's ladder and aluminium ladder which do not comply with Section 6.1.6 of the LSA Code are not acceptable.
3. A knotted rope is not acceptable as "other means of embarkation".
4. "Other means of embarkation enabling descent to the water in a controlled manner" is subject to the approval of the Government on a case by case basis.
