The Maltese Government has notified the Society of the following instruction about the servicing of inflatable liferafts onboard Malta-registered ships;

The servicing of liferaft may only be carried out by liferaft servicing stations that are in possession of the manufacturers' approval for the specific liferafts intended to be serviced and approved in accordance with IMO Resolution A761(18) as amended by Resolution MSC.55(66) by either:

・ the Administration of the SOLAS Contracting Government of the State within which the servicing station is located; or

・ an IACS Member Society recognized by this Administration acting for and on behalf of the Administration of the SOLAS Contracting Government of the State within which the servicing station is located.
