Summary of the outcomes of MSC92
A summary of the decisions taken at the ninety-second session of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 92) held from 12 to 21 June 2013 is presented hereunder for your information.
1. Adopted mandatory requirements
The main mandatory requirements adopted at the session are as follows.
(1) Passenger ship safety (SOLAS III/19) (see Attachment 1)
To require that on a ship engaged on a voyage where passengers are scheduled to be on board for more than 24 hours, musters of newly-embarked passengers shall take place prior to or immediately upon departure.

(2) Enclosed space entry and rescue drills (SOLAS III/19 etc.) (see Attachment 1 & 2)
To require that crew members with enclosed space entry or rescue responsibilities shall participate in an enclosed space entry and rescue drill to be held on board the ship at least once every two months.

- on and after 1 January 2015
(3) Amendments to the IMSBC Code (see Attachment 3)
To amend the IMSBC Code to enhance the safety of carriage of cargoes that may liquefy.
Application:
- on and after 1 January 2015
(4) Amendments to the ISM Code Part A (see Attachment 4)
To require that company should ensure that each ship is manned appropriately and that company should periodically verify whether all those undertaking delegated ISM-related tasks are acting in conformity with the Company’s responsibilities under the Code.
