Survey on lifeboat on-load release mechanisms (Lifeboat Release and Retrieval Systems: LRRSs)
With regard to conformity with SOLAS III/1.5 amended by MSC.317(89) as notified by Technical Information (No.TEC-0858, Date: 1 August 2011), our survey on LRRSs will be carried out in the first scheduled dry-dock after 1 July 2014. The survey is to be applied to ships on which lifeboat on-load release mechanisms are installed.
Each type of existing LRRS has been evaluated by an Administration. There are the following cases of evaluation results:
Case 1. Compliant
Case 2. Compliant after modification
Case 3. Non-compliant (to be replaced)
About the type of LRRS for the ship and evaluation result, please ask the lifeboat maker.
Ship owners should order the lifeboat maker or the service provider for the LRRSs to comply with SOLAS III/1.5 amended by MSC.317(89) according to the flow of actions as the Attachment 1 or the Attachment 2 for ships flying Liberian flag. The survey will be carried out according to those flows of actions.
