As for the amendments to LSA Code enter into force on 1 July 2010 in accordance with Res.MSC.207(81) and MSC.272(85), the following items are required to be complied with the new standard of Life-saving equipment for the ships the keels of which are laid on or after 1 July 2010. On 22 May 2006, while at anchor in the Bay of Sept Iles, Canada, lifeboat drill was carried out on board the bulk carrier. During the recovery of lifeboat, the lifeboat fell in the accident. At present, Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) are investigating the lifeboat accident and has released a Marine Safety Advisory letter concerning the release gear mechanism, type SRS-37.
