Jun/2021). From the previous Notice (Rev. Nov/2019), the texts of item 5 related to checking and changing of the cylinders are revised. And the requirement of the shipboard Safety Management System (SMS) for carrying dangerous goods is added in item 7 of this Technical Information. However, ClassNK inform the revised Technical Information because the Marshall Islands Government has informed ClassNK of the Notice Rev.8/12. Steering gear test with the vessel not at the deepest seagoing draught
IACS Unified Interpretation SC 246 for SOLAS II-1/Regulation 29 is applied to ships contracted for construction on or after 1 July 2012. According to the unified interpretation, when trials are conducted with the vessel not at the deepest seagoing draught, the loading condition may be accepted on either one of the following conditions unless any specific instruction is provided by the flag administration (*). Crew accommodation on ships registered to the Marshall Islands is not required to satisfy ILO convention requirements. However, the government encourages applying ILO Conventions No. 92 and No. 133. The government provides Documents of Compliance, which certify that shipboard accommodations comply with either ILO Convention No. 92 or No. 133. This optional certification will be issued, at the request of a ships owner or operator, upon satisfactory completion of the necessary plan review and shipboard surveys. Cargo handling appliances on ships registered to the Marshall Islands are not required to satisfy ILO convention requirements. However, the Government encourages to apply Articles 21 through 32 in PartⅢ of ILO Convention No.152. When Convention No.152 is applied, derrick systems onboard ship shall have an annual thorough examination instead of an annual inspection, of which fact will be recorded in the relevant ship's Cargo Gear Book. Fire extinguishing arrangement for paint and flammable liquid lockers on Marshall Islands flagged vessels
The Government of the Republic of Marshall Islands has noticed ClassNK of the special requirements for fire extinguishing arrangement for paint and flammable liquid lockers on Marshall Islands flagged vessels as follows. Depending the area of the deck, paint and flammable liquid lockers should be provided with the following fire extinguishing system or portable fire extinguisher. 1. Existing vessels with keel laid before 1 February 1992 (1) Lockers of 10m2 or less in deck area ? One portable fire extinguisher as given in below should be located outside the entrance to the space. (I) Carbon Dioxide; with a charge of 6.8kg at least, which has a maximum fully charged weight of 23kg. The Marshall Islands Government and the Mauritius Government have noticed ClassNK of the special requirements for emergency escape breathing device on board the Marshall Islands and Mauritius flagged vessels as follows. Marshall Islands There should be, as a minimum, two EEBDs on each level (at each deck or platform level) of the machinery space. If a machinery space contains an enclosed primary escape trunk having a door at each level, only one EEBD need be located on each level. Mauritius 1. If the ship has a sprit house, the minimum two EEBDs per house should be provided. 2. The number of EEBD in the machinery spaces should be as follows. (1) Two sets in the control room.
